Is laser correction worth doing?
Among those who wear glasses or contact lenses, there is an opinion that there comes a time when laser correction of myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism becomes necessary. "Do I need to do laser correction?" Is one of the most frequently asked questions of those who wear glasses or contact lenses. The answer to this question is that vision correction is performed at the request of the patient, in the absence of contraindications.
Quite rarely, there are situations in which Lasik or Lasek are the only way to improve vision. Usually, correction is an alternative to glasses or lenses. Another alternative is intraocular lens implantation. That is, if the patient wants to see without glasses, if it is required by the profession, lifestyle or image (yes, the image too), he becomes a candidate for an operation using an excimer laser.
To make it clearer - a direct analogy with plastic surgery - if a person wants to change the shape of, say, the nose, it is he who initiates the procedure. And the doctor, after a detailed, detailed examination, says whether it is possible to do the operation, and what are the individual risks of complications.
The main reasons why the patients of our center want to correct myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism are as follows:
- image
- requirement for the profession (athletes, military personnel, police officers, pilots, drivers, employer's prohibition on wearing glasses)
- the desire to get rid of everyday inconveniences that arise, for example, when caring for a child
- intolerance to contact lenses or incompatibility of contact lenses with working conditions, for example, irregular working hours when working with a computer monitor
